Sin LiMITe Coordinator

My junior year, I was elected as Sin LiMITe coordinator, meaning I was responsible for leading the committee that plans a fly-in that tends to have ~60 visitors in the Spring. Below are some of my thoughts and takeaways

April 27 2026 - Sin LiMITe

We are now a few weeks removed from the program. I am super super happy with how it went. I'm not sure about the extent to which I should write about the events on this weekend, but I'll cover most of the basics. We had around 80 students attend the weekend and had various programming scheduled.

The committee also planned 3 activities, including an Aux Battle + Musical Chairs (with a Bad Bunny vinyl record as a reward), Crafts, Gala Sabrosura, and a Scavenger Hunt.

All of them went fantastically, but I am a little biased towards the Gala since I helped plan it last year. Students were able to see performances from MIT Mariachi, Latino Dance Club, Casino Rueda, and Folkorico. We also had a guest speaker, Juan Rodriguez Flores as well as a student speaker (me). I was a little worried and wasn't able to prepare my speech until during the Gala, but I've been told that it went well.

The students were also able to visit a couple cool places on campus, including the Edgerton Center and Pappalardo. They also were able to engage with all of the clubs under the LCC (many represented in the stickers below).

I made so so so many stickers. I swear I was in MAD for basically a day and a half. I also used a little bit too much of their sticker supplies, however, you can now see the stickers at the bottom (Sorry to any clubs I'm missing, these were just the photos I had available)!

Anyways, this was a lot of summary, but I really enjoyed being able to help plan Sin Limite this year. It would not have been possible with an awesome committee or without the help of Aya from admissions. I know my life changed because of Sin Limite and I hope it did for others as well.

Original Post (October 8 2025) - Last Year's Sin LiMITe

Last year, I helped plan the Sin LiMITe event. I had gone to Sin LiMITe my senior year of high school and it was one of the main things that made me want to come to MIT. I had already met some other accepted students at MIT Wise and was excited to come back to campus.

When I saw an email or slack message about helping to plan the event, I felt strangely drawn to it. I had met most of my current freinds at Sin LiMITe and then hung out with them at CPW. It was not an event that necessarily helped me get closer to the LCC or other Latino-centered organizations and events on campus, but it was the event that made MIT feel like home first.

As a result, I helped plan Gala Sabrosura, the yearly gala at the end of Sin LiMITe where students are able to enjoy several performances by groups like Latin Dance Club, Casino Rueda, and Folklorico.

Outside of some late-night conversations and a journey to MacGregor in the very early eraly hours of the morning, that was the highlight of my own Sin LiMITe weekend.

From the other side, it was just as valuable. I was able to see students who were able to enjoy those same memories that I was able to.
